If you have different wattage solar panels, the same voltage but different amps, which is the better way to wire the solar panels together in your DIY solar system – series or parallel? In this video, we take two 24V solar panels, and wire them in parallel and in series into an MPPT charge controller to a deep cycle battery. Then we’ll, measure the output to determine which method is better for maximizing your solar power production. The results may surprise you.
2,400 watts on this array. Total array power (three arrays) is 4,900 watts. My backyard solar panel arrays power 75-80% of my house’s electric power. I engineered, designed, built, and tested my system by myself. The system is “partial” off-grid…I do NOT sell back to the power company. I use solar to REDUCE the KW/H bought from the power company.

When it comes to choosing a solar panel that will work best for your needs, there are lots of variables that you need to consider: monocrystalline vs polycrystalline, hard panels vs flexible panels, wiring the solar panels in series vs parallel or a combination of the two. This video will help bring clarity to these decisions you will need to make.

Look no further for the best beginner’s guide to solar panel systems.
In this video, I will show you in layman’s terms how a solar panel system works and how to set one up in 2 different types of systems. This video is intended for beginners so obviously there is a lot more involved than I am explaining but this covers the basics to get started.
