  1. Please don't use plastic bags at restaurants though, the plastic degrading in our oceans and soils is highly destructive to the environment even if the pure carbon footprint is lower…

  2. @TheFireAndTheSigh fuels. A good future fuel will most likely be butanol, but it is a couple of years out still. Furthermore, the main thing he is stressing is to live a sustainable life. Do not take excessive amounts of energy out of our world. Do not take a long shower. Do not fly if you could drive. Do not drive if you could walk. Do not buy corporate if you can buy local. Do not but out of season fruits/vegies. Basically, change to become more sustainable by our natural practices and life.

  3. @TheFireAndTheSigh I agree, however, you need to look at the energy that is contained in things like bio-diesel and other alternatives. Bio-diesel contains less energy than crude oil, and we would use it much faster thus costing more. Since we are in need of energy sources to run our vehicles and operations that we NEED on a day to day basis, although we want to do something better for the environment, on an economic standpoint, it is hard to transition to alternative (longterm more expensive) –
